This financial allowance is offered to those raising children up to the age of completion of elementary school.
For the first and second child, the allowance is 5,000 yen per child per month, and from the third child, the allowance is 10,000 yen.
Foreigners must have completed Alien Registration to be eligible for this allowance.
Also, the allowance may not be provided if the parent or child-raiser's income during the previous year exceeded a certain level.
This financial allowance is offered to mothers or others raising children on their own, due to divorce, death of the father, or other reason recognized under the law.
Foreigners must have completed Alien Registration to be eligible for this allowance; also, whether an allowance is given may depend on the length of residency in Japan.
Depending on the income of those raising children on their own, the allowance for the first child will vary from 9,850 yen - 41,720 yen; for the second child, an additional 5,000 yen will be given; for the third child or more children, there will be an additional 3,000 yen per child.
If the income of the child-raiser has risen above a certain level in the previous year, this allowance will be terminated.
This financial allowance is offered to fathers or mothers or others raising mentally or physically handicapped children under the age of 20.
Foreigners must have completed Alien Registration to be eligible for this allowance; also, whether an allowance is given may depend on the length of residency in Japan.
The allowance for those raising heavily-handicapped children is 50,750 yen per child per month; for those raising children with medium handicaps, the allowance is 33,800 yen per child per month.
If a child is being taken care of in a child welfare facility or the child is eligible for a public pension due to the handicap, this allowance will not be provided.
If the income of the child-raiser has risen above a certain level in the previous year, this allowance will be terminated.
