Start with what you can do! Small initiatives lead to big reductions!
- Bring your own shopping bag and say no to unnecessary bagging at checkout.
- Turn down excessive wrapping and ask for simple wrapping instead.
- Return all unnecessary packaging (cardboard, styrofoam, etc.) to the store at the time of purchase, and take home just the contents.
- Return food trays, etc. to the recycling box at the place of purchase.
- Put returnable containers back to use.
- Purchase refills for shampoos and household cleansers.
- Make purchases in small amounts or by weight when possible.
- Take care of your possessions and plan to use them for a long time.
- Keep the inside of your refrigerator tidy and reduce waste.
- Make sure food isn't left past its expiration date.
