Beaches

Kamakura City faces the sea. The coastal area of Kamakura is suitable for leisure and sightseeing.

Beach Opening

It has been over 120 years since the opening of the renowned Kamakura beach, and its three coasts Zaimokuza, Yuigahama, and Koshigoe will open this summer.

9:00am to 5:00pm

Rules

Following a few important rules will insure a safe and happy day at the three beaches.

  • Make sure to check the flag color used at each guard post before swimming.
    • Blue flag = Open for swimming
    • Yellow flag = Swim with caution
    • Red Flag = Swimming prohibited
  • *Do not enter the water in early morning, after sundown, or under the influence of alcohol.
  • *Label children's swimsuits with their names and keep your eye on them.
  • *Take home your trash.
  • *Be attentive to sudden changes in wave heights and the tide.
    Parking lots around the beach get very crowded, use public transportation if possible.

Zaimokuza Beach

Shoaling beach in a calm cove. The longest shoreline of the three beaches with many seaside houses and other facilities. At low tide, you can enjoy the tide pools by Wakae Island on the east side.

By Train
From Kamakura Station of JR Yokosuka LIne and Enoden,take the Keikyu Bus towards Izu Station via Kotsubo (8min by bus),get off at Zaimokuza bus station (2min walk).By CarFrom the Asahina IC of Yokohama Yokosuka Rd, take the prefectural highway 204 for approximately 6km.

Yuigahama Beach

Not far from the Enoden train station, it is in a perfect location to enjoy Kamakura tourism and the beach. However it's very busy during summer vacation. There are many seaside houses and other facilities.

Access

By Train
From Kamakura Station JR Yokosuka LIne or Enoden, A 15-minute walk. Or, Wadazuka Station/Yuigahama Station/Hase station on the Enoden line, 5-minte walk from each station.
By Car
From the Asahina IC of Yokohama Yokosuka Rd, take the prefectural highway 204 for approximately 6km.

Koshigoe Beach

A great spot where you can view Enoshima from the beach. With the fishing harbor nearby, you may be able to buy fresh seafood at a local store if you are lucky.

A 3-minute walk from Enoden Koshigoe Station.
By Car
From the Asahina IC of Yokohama Yokosuka Rd, take the prefectural highway 204 via Route 134 for approximately 13km.
