Zuisenji Temple

Zuisenji Temple was founded in 1327 by Nikaido Doun as a founding patron and the founding priest was Muso Soseki. Ashikaga Motouji, the first Kamakura governor, was entombed here it became an official government location and is one of the Kanto Jissetsu(ten important temples of Rinzai Sect of the Kanto region). The pavilion on the hill behind the garden is called the Henka Ichirantei. It was designed by Muso Soseki. It was a sanctuary of literary arts for the monks of the five great Rinzai temples of Kamakura. Also, in the Edo period Tokugawa Mitsukuni compiled the Shinpen Kamakura-shi there. The flowers diligently planted for each season dedicated to this temple allow visitors to enjoy its beauty. Kamakura's 33 Kannon No. 6. Kamakura's 24 Jizo No. 7. Nominated for Inspection on the World Heritage List.
